Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My son struggles to pass stools every day. Irrespective of healthy eating, he keeps complaining that every time he tries to pass stool, his stomach hurts, and he has the feeling that he wants to pass stool, but he is not able to pass it. This has been going on for a couple of months now. I have not consulted with the doctor in person yet. Can you please advise how we can help him?

Hi,

Welcome to iCliniq.com. I understand your concern.

Constipation is common in children. These are some natural ways to relieve constipation:

1. Give radish and carrots as a salad in the diet.

2. Give adequate water. Sometimes, drinking less water can lead to constipation.

Pathological causes can include:

1. Hypothyroidism, check the thyroid levels of the child.

2. Celiac disease, check for tTG (tissue transglutaminase) levels.

An ultrasound abdomen should also be done. An examination should also be done so that we may not miss any relevant findings.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
