Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This is a bit awkward, but I am nervous. I have an appointment to take off my Nexplanon implant in nine days. I had sex twice today. Will I get pregnant when they take off my implant? Or will the sperm die before then?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Firstly I should know when you implanted Nexplanon. If it is less than three years, then there is significantly less chance of getting pregnant, as not all contraceptives are 100 % sure. If it is more than three years, then it is quite possible to get pregnant. In this situation, you should take an emergency contraceptive pill like Ipill (levonorgestrel) or Unwanted 72 (levonorgestrel) within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse to avoid pregnancy. You can take off your implant as scheduled.

I hope this helps.

Regards.
