Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was making love with my fiance, and our condom broke. I think I am ovulating. I want to avoid pregnancy. I used to take Dorin for a long time but stopped a few months ago, but I still have some. I have heard of the yuzpe method. Could I use Dorin for that?

How would I do that?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

What active ingredient is present in the tablet Dorin?

The Yuzpe method consists of two doses of a combination Estrogen and Progestin oral contraceptive (100 microgram Ethinyl Estradiol and 1-milligram dl-Norgestrel [equivalent to 0.5 milligrams Levonorgestrel]) taken 12 hours apart.

During what day of your cycle you had sexual intercourse?

Please reply about tablet Dorin to guide you better.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Dorin has 0.03 mg Ethinylestradiol and 2 mg Dienogest. I had intercourse on my 15th day.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Intercourse around the 15th day is not safe and can cause pregnancy.

You should take the emergency contraceptive Levonorgestrel.

Levonorgestrel can be taken as a single dose of 1.5 milligrams or two 0.75 milligrams doses taken at the same time or 12 hours apart within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse

You can take two doses of Dorin 12 hours apart but try to prefer Levonorgestrel and take it as early as possible.

Thank you.
