Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My last menstrual period was before 20 days. I had unprotected sex before eleven days and seven days and took a tablet Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg after intercourse. Is there any chance of getting pregnant?

Answered by Dr. Natasha Bansal

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have taken an emergency contraceptive, the chances of pregnancy are almost nil. Also, the chances of ovulation are nil if you have regular periods. Therefore, it helps in preventing pregnancy. Since you have taken the emergency pill twice this month, your periods for the successive two to three cycles may be irregular. Take a pregnancy test in case of delayed periods. If negative, you need not worry.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
