Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had unprotected sex last month and forgot to take the contraceptive pill immediately. So, I took it after four days. Should I be concerned about pregnancy? Should I take any tests? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is a high chance of pregnancy because the contraceptive pill was taken after four days of exposure to unsafe coitus. Usually, it should be taken within 72 hours of exposure. But you should wait and observe. When was your last period? In case of missed periods, you should do a pregnancy test. If the unprotected sex did not occur during ovulation, there is less chance of pregnancy.
