Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took two contraceptive pills in 24 hours after unprotected intercourse. It was the 14th day of my period, and I had a cycle of 28 to 30 days. I had my last period a few days back. When can I expect my next period? It has been one week since I took the pill, and I have been having white discharge and slight abdomen pain for two or three days. Is there a chance of pregnancy?

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Menstrual irregularities, in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalances caused by a contraceptive pill. As you took the contraceptive pill on time, there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case. Abdominal pain with white discharge due to side effects of the contraceptive pill, so there is no need to worry about it. Some people have withdrawal bleeding due to the sudden withdrawal of hormones from their bodies. The next period is a little unpredictable due to hormonal imbalances caused by contraceptive pills. Either it may come early or may be delayed by one week or so. So wait and watch for your menses, and get your home urine pregnancy test after seven days of your missed period date to rule out pregnancy.

I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

I have started a very light period since yesterday without any cramps. Is that normal after taking contraceptive pill? I had my last period a few days back.

Thank you.
