Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My age is 46 years old. The glycosylated HB (HbA1c)- 8.60 %. Total Cholesterol- 241.1 mg/dL. Triglyceride: 424.9 mg/dL. Please suggest me some medicine.

Hi,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

Thanks for your query. Your cholesterol levels are too high. And your HBA1C is a bit high. Can you brief the diabetic medications you are taking at present? You have to follow diet modifications too. I Will brief you. Do reply to us with your current medications for further follow-ups.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am taking Metformin 500 in the morning and evening.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have just seen your lab reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). You have to cut down your cholesterol levels, and blood sugar should be in control with both drugs and diet changes. Your thyroid levels are normal. For blood sugar: Fasting should be below 110 mg/dL. Continue Metformin. Do some physical exercises or have a walk for 20 to 25 minutes in the morning and evening. Avoid high carbs and junk foods. Follow-up with both fasting and postprandial blood sugars after 15 days. For cholesterol: Avoid fried foods and junk foods. Limit your liquor intake. Avoid or quit smoking. Take tablet Atorvastatin 20 mg at night after food. Recheck your cholesterol levels after a month and follow-up. Take care. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Treatment plan

To cut down cholesterol level and to maintain blood sugar level.

Preventive measures

Do some physical exercises or have a walk for 20 to 25 minutes in the morning and evening. Avoid high carbs and junk foods. Follow-up with both fasting and postprandial blood sugars after one month. For cholesterol: Avoid fried foods and junk foods. Limit your liquor intake. Avoid or quit smoking. Follow-up with lipid profile after a month.

Regarding follow up

Have a follow-up with blood sugar and lipid profile after a month.
