Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a Cortisone shot in my knee, 10 minutes later started to feel seriously dizzy. I cannot walk straight, cannot hear, my eyes felt so heavy, almost passed out, heart palpation.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

What is your age? Do you suffer from any medical illness other than your knee pain? Cortisone injection is usually given along with Lignocaine - which is a local anesthetic drug. The dosage of Lignocaine depends on your age, weight and presence of other systemic ilnesses. The drugs are injected into the knee joint and usually do not cause any systemic complications. However, sometimes Lignocaine gets absorbed into the systemic circulation and may cause neurological complications like dizziness, heaviness, unsteadiness, etc. Your symptoms appear to be related to this. However, Lignocaine in the circulation is very short acting and these effects usually wear off in a short time without any further long term implications. Kindly let me know if you need anything else.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
