Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am experiencing COVID-19 symptoms like mild fever, cough, headache, body ache, and rashes in the throat for the past seven days. I have also sent you the reports of RT-PCR and HRCT of the chest. Can you please guide me?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

According to the report of RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) for the COVID-19 (attachment removed to protect patient's identity), your results are negative. Though RT-PCR is the gold standard test for COVID-19, it may show false negative in true positive COVID-19 infection. Also, recent studies have shown increased false-negative results in the RT-PCR test with HRCT (high resolution computed tomography) of the chest showing significant infection in the lungs.

According to your HRCT of chest report, ground-glass opacities are found in both lungs, suggestive of COVID pneumonia.

Also, since you have been suffering from symptoms of COVID-like infection, you should start taking medications for COVID-19 infections as per the new guidelines.

  1. For pneumonia, start taking antiviral medications.
  2. Antibiotics to prevent any secondary infections.
  3. Low molecular weight Heparins, Multivitamins, and mineral supplement tablets.

Monitor your oxygen saturation rate routinely. If it declines below 93%, then get yourself admitted to the hospital for oxygen inhalation.

Take care. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your help.

Can you please suggest me the medicines ?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Consult your doctor immediately; he will advise you of the medications after assessing you physically or recommend that you get admitted if needed since you are suffering from pneumonia.

I would suggest you with:

  1. Antiviral medications like tablet Favivir (Favipiravir), tablet Fabiflu (Favipiravir 200 mg).
  2. Antibiotic- tablet Azithromycin.
  3. Steroid - tablet Dexamethasone.
  4. Zinc, Calcium and Vitamin D tablets.
  5. Anticoagulants.

Monitor your oxygen saturation level routinely.

Some investigations like D-dimer, RBS (random blood sugar), acute-phase proteins like Ferritin, etc., can be needed.

In case of any other query, knock me.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
