Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took Covaxin vaccine three days back. I was having pain with my wisdom tooth and got it removed today morning. The dentist asked me if I had COVID, diabetes or BP. I did not have any disease so, I told him no. But after the dentist gave me the pain killer, I told him that I took Covaxin vaccine. He told me that I should have told him about the vaccination, as pain killers are not advised after vaccine, and the surgery which took place will cause a lot of pain. Can you please tell me if it is fine if I take one pain killer? Can I take pain killer after 12 hours?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can see that there was negligence from your side in providing your medical history to the consulting physician during or after the procedure. However, there is no harm in accepting that. Your doctor is right about what he mentioned about the pain. Now that we are in a fix, we ought to find a solution for this. Or at least, a temporary one. I am supposing that after taking the vaccine three days ago, you were already in a window period of three days before the extraction procedure took place. And, in that time, you have not faced any severe illness or allergic reactions. (I expect you do not have any allergy history towards any food or drug). If so, and you are fine now, besides the pain from dental surgery, I would like to know the drugs the doctor prescribed to you after the surgery. Only then can I suggest alterations in the medicines to subside your pain. Just hang in there, and have faith. You can manage the pain.

Thank you.
