Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Since the last week, I have had a mild fever and cough, and when I got tested for COVID-19, the report came back positive. I have attached my reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) report and prescription advised to me for the same. I have been taking medicines prescribed for my fever and cough since the last week. Kindly look at my report and advice me accordingly. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to iCliniq.com, Thank you for the query. I understand your concern. According to the query you asked, you have been suffering from mild fever and cough for a week, and you are COVID-19 positive. I have checked the RT-PCR (Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction) report and the prescription attached by you (attachment removed to ensure the patient's identity). You can carry on with your prescribed medications. Since you are COVID-19 positive, the treatment aims at symptomatic relief. For your fever, use Paracetamol or Acetaminophen to control your temperature. For common cold and cough, I would suggest using Antihistamines. In case of respiratory distress, I recommend adding Corticosteroids such as Dexamethasone to your treatment regimen. If your oxygen saturation drops below 93%, I suggest you get yourself admitted for oxygen inhalation therapy in a rare or extreme case. On the sixth or tenth day of your COVID infection, I recommend undergoing an HRCT (high resolution computed tomography) of the chest. If you have developed pneumonia, it will get detected. In case of pneumonia, start antiviral medications. In case of no COVID-19-related complications or consequences, you do not need another course of medication. Still, I suggest getting tested for COVID-19 again, preferably RT-PCR testing, to assess your infection status. Take care. In case of any other queries, ask us. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
