Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My mother is tested COVID-19 positive in the antigen test. She has a temperature of 99°C and a slight cough for two or three days. Her SpO2 is 99 percent, and her pulse is around 100 bpm. My parents were vaccinated with the booster dose a month before. They are taking their daily medications like Multivitamin and Zincovit. My mother is taking Paracetamol and Azithromycin now. Can you prescribe the proper medicine routine for her?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. I can understand your concern. As your mother has already started taking Azithromycin, this medication will help prevent any further secondary infections. As she is suffering from a mild cough, I suggest her the following,

  • Tablet Allegra 120 mg (Fexofenadine) at night for ten days.
  • Tablet Singulair 10 mg (Montelukast) at night for 15 to 30 days.

In case of fever, she can take Paracetamol or Acetaminophen for subsiding her fever. She needs to take the medications according to her complications. Suppose there is no complication or symptom, no need for drugs. Such a type of treatment procedure is known as symptomatic treatment.

Your mother can gargle with salt mixed warm water twice or thrice daily. After five to seven days, if any respiratory complications develop like severe cough, breathing difficulties, or any other complications, an HRCT (high resolution computed tomography) of the chest should be done. Take care. In case of any further query, knock me.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
