Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 28 and sexually active. But, I do not have any baby yet. I had noticed a long time back that I do not have any gap between my vagina and anus. I got to know that as deficient perineum, but I could not find out more on the internet. Can you tell me why I do not have it and its consequences?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Have you consulted any gynecologist or surgeon? It may be a normal variation. Since pictures are not available, it is difficult to comment. You better consult a gynecologist for a physical evaluation.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have not consulted anyone. I have done regular pap smear, but my gynecologist did not mention anything other than saying my cervix is posterior. I do not have any other problem, except excessive vaginal discharge and painful period. I saw a video where episiotomy was given after delivery and so I got concerned as I do not have that space.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are absolutely normal and there is enough gap (attachment removed to protect patient identity). You need not worry at all. You can have normal sexual life and delivery. When you clean, run your fingers from vagina downwards and not reverse. Nowadays, delivery cannot be guaranteed vaginally. So, not to worry.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
