Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got my periods in the first week of the last month. And we had unprotected sex later that week, but my partner used a pull-out method to be on the safer side. I took the Unwanted-72 pill that day. I experienced scanty bleeding after five days. We had unprotected sex again in the first week of this month. And I took the same pill. I have not got my periods to date. Is the delay in periods due to hormonal pills? Has it changed my cycles? Should I wait for another few days for my periods? Would you please give me your opinion on this?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for writing in, and I understand your concern. In my opinion, Unwanted 72 is a hormonal preparation that changes the hormonal milieu of your body. I suggest you get a pregnancy test done to rule out pregnancy.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

I did a test at home, and it showed negative results. My bleeding also started just like periods occur. Do I need to worry now about this? Also, suggest safe methods for intercourse as my husband is not willing to use condoms.

Regards.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you have got a negative pregnancy test, you are not pregnant. There are many methods for specific situations. For future safety, you can use these methods:

1. Oral contraceptive pills daily so that there is monthly bleeding.

2. You can use injectable contraception in which injection is given every two months or three months according to the preparation like Depo-Provera (Medroxyprogesterone Acetate)

3. You can get an intrauterine device inserted by a trained gynecologist.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

As the bleeding has started, will it make any difference if the flow is less? Or is it due to the Unwanted-72 pill I had taken? Will it affect my future cycles also in the coming months? Please do clarify these doubts for me.

Regards.

There is no need to worry. It will settle in one to two cycles.
