Hello doctor,
I did not get periods. According to the flow app, my period is 10 days late and my current cycle is 42 days. I had unprotected intercourse and I took an i-pill that day. According to the last period date, my period should have started by now. I also got a pregnancy test but it was negative. What should I do? My period is very late. Kindly suggest.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I read your query and understand your concern. Sometimes periods might get delayed by one or two weeks because of some stress or recent illness. There is also the possibility of pregnancy as not all contraceptives are 100% sure there is some 0.2 to 1% failure rate and an early pregnancy kit might show false results. For clear results do a blood hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) test. I would like to know the following:
1. How is your menstrual cycle?
2. For how many days does your menstrual cycle last?
3. Have you taken any hormonal pills in between?
Please mention the details so I can suggest proper treatment. I hope you find this helpful.
Thank you.
