Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old unmarried girl. My period cycle is of 32 days, but it is delayed by four to five days in the last three months. I am a little bit nervous about this. I am also taking medicines for migraine.

What is the reason for the delayed periods?

Please help me.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Changes to menstrual cycles can be caused by a variety of factors, including stress, changes in weight, hormonal imbalances, certain medications, and underlying medical conditions. It is possible that your menstrual cycle is being affected by your migraine medication, as some medications can have an impact on hormonal balance and menstrual cycles. It is also not uncommon for menstrual cycles to fluctuate slightly from time to time, even if you typically have regular cycles. Changes in stress levels or changes in weight can also impact the regularity of menstrual cycles. If you are concerned about the changes to your menstrual cycle, it may be helpful to track your cycle using a period tracker app or calendar. This can help you identify any patterns or changes in your cycle and provide useful information to you and your doctor. If your menstrual cycle continues to be irregular or if you have other symptoms, such as heavy bleeding or severe pain then go for an ultrasound abdomen and some basic blood tests.

Thank you.
