Could my delayed periods be due to the birth control pill I took after sexual intercourse?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

A month ago, I had unprotected sex with my partner. To avoid becoming pregnant, I took the I-pill. And we waited for the next menstrual period, which was supposed to arrive a few days back but has yet to come. Except for missing periods and stomach aches, no pregnancy-related symptoms are observed. We have not consulted anyone.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

In your case, menstrual irregularities could result from a hormonal imbalance caused by taking an I-pill (Levonorgestrel). Your case has almost no chance of pregnancy because you took the I-pill on time. So keep an eye out for your menstruation. I also suggest you take a home urine pregnancy test to confirm.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
