Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend, during which he did not ejaculate inside me but on my belly. However, I took the tablet Unwanted-72 within 48 hours to be on the safer side. My periods have been delayed by one and a half months despite taking the pill.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and would be happy to help.

I have gone through your case and can well understand your health concerns. However, do not worry; everything will be fine if proper treatment is followed.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

The Probable causes

The failure rate of coitus interruptus is very high, and this is the least recommended method of contraception. At the time of sexual arousal, males sometimes cannot fully eject before they ejaculate. Also, the precum fluid contains a minute quantity of sperms. The tablet Unwanted-72 is a good option, and the reason for the delay in periods can be an emotional or hormonal imbalance or pregnancy (fewer chances).

Investigations to be done

I suggest you get yourself tested for Beta hCG in urine (pregnancy test). If you test negative, which means you are not pregnant and still do not get your periods within a week or two, I suggest you go to a local gynecologist, who will do an ultrasound scan, a gold standard test to confirm pregnancy.

Regarding follow up

I suggest a follow up after a week.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
