Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 26 years old. Last time I had my menses was from 6th to 10th May. I had protected sex on 30th May. I have not had my periods till now. I have PCOD which was diagnosed two years back. In some months I bleed for 10 days, in some for 4 days.

My menses were 24 days delayed. Next month, I had it 10 days before the due date. This time it is 25 days late. Do I take Primolut N for five days to induce bleeding? I guess I have not conceived?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Firstly, if you are sexually active and have missed your periods by a month now, then it would be imperative to rule out pregnancy first with a urine pregnancy test kit. If negative then, you can opt for a withdrawal bleed with progesterone like Primolut N tablet to induce a withdrawal bleed.

But this would not be the treatment for PCOD. You would need to get a hormonal profile (FSH, LH, AMH, serum testosterone, serum estradiol, DHEAS, 17-OHP) and an ultrasound pelvis to reestablish the diagnosis of PCOD and then a set treatment can be offered to you for controlling PCOD and its features. Presently if your concern is menses then do the urine pregnancy test and if negative, you can opt for Primolut N.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
