Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had my periods on 17th June and I had sex with my partner on 24th. He used condom but that condom got stuck in me, but after three hours I had i-pill. After one or two weeks of having i-pill, I had spotting for two days which resolved spontaneously. Now it is 16th of this month and I am not bleeding and I am under a lot of stress. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. See firstly, it is not necessary that contraceptive failure (condom stuck) will necessarily lead to pregnancy. So stop worrying. Secondly, you have taken i-pill within 3 hours, which is having 98 % success rate. So stop worrying again. Thirdly, you were not ovulating on that day itself, so again do not worry. And yes, certainly few women experience discharge like what you have experienced after taking the i-pill. Do not worry, you will not get pregnant. Also, i-pill is a hormone-based pill which delays period in certain ladies for a week to 10 days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I just want to know one more thing. Should I go for a test for confirmation? Just to be more specific. Please help.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

According to the information shared by you, you are worried if there is a remote possibility of pregnancy. See I will come to it later but just to satisfy your query for future in case you have irregular/delay in periods some other time. Irregular periods can be due to several reasons like stress, hormonal changes, overweight, pregnancy, PCOS, etc. Now coming to them one by one, stress can be due to several reasons like exam, job, stress, COVID-19, personal issues, etc. Hormonal changes can be due to within body changes, medication, etc. Please let me know if you in past have suffered any illness or have started any medications. Are you by any chance using any birth control pills? Your weight is on the higher side so you need to reduce it. As you have not mentioned whether you are sexually active or not, if you are sexually active then please do a urine pregnancy test. Do it with the first urine of the day for accurate result. For polycystic ovarian syndrome, are you experiencing acne, thinning of hair, excessive hair growth, etc? If yes, then it is related to polycystic ovarian syndrome. For confirmation of the same, we need to do a scan. This is a common problem found in women of reproductive age. Recommendations for pregnancy test:-

1. Use a good quality pregnancy test kit like Prega news.

2. Do it with the first urine of the day.

3. Do not drink large quantity of fluids before your test.

4. Adhere to all guidelines as mentioned on the packaging of kit.

If your periods are due today then wait for 4-5 days so that HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels are adequate to give results for pregnancy confirmation or otherwise. As I have said earlier also, the test shall come negative in your case. Do not worry.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had PCOS earlier but, now all reports are fine and USG also shows no PCOS clinical picture. I had taken medicine for PCOS 3 years after that I never had such problems. No, I am not at all sexually active. I guess the last time I had sex may be in October 2019 or so, but that time also no such problems. I have my periods on a regular basis. I just wanted to share that for three to four days, I have breast tenderness only in the right breast, lower abdominal discharge with wet feeling around the vagina, as I already said, I am already under a lot of stress. Please help.

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the details presented by you. You had PCOS and you are fine now is a great news. After going through the details presented by you, it appears you are under tremendous stress. Please focus on your work. Do not worry. I hope your age is correct what you have mentioned as 36 years. Your weight is also coming as 64 lbs, I think it is 145 lbs? As you had PCOS, start some physical activities which help you keep your weight and sugar under check. Start with brisk walking, jogging, etc. Start with soft exercises and then gradually head towards intense workouts. Do not worry, you are fine. If you are worried and want to rest your anxiety after two days, do a urine pregnancy test. Please keep the following things in mind; do it with the first urine of the day, and do not drink too much fluids. Adhere to all guidelines on the packaging for an accurate result.

Hi Dear, wonderful to know that you are a healthcare provider aa well. firstly I request you to stay safe amid corona pandemic. see as we have discussed earlier and the information you shared later; you are not pregnant for sure. now with the signal your body is giving you, indeed your period is round the corner. you can have the serum HcG test but may not be on this Sunday, you can wait till Wednesday for better and accurate result as you may get periods by then or your HCG level will rise to a level to give you strong positive result (which should not be the case) if you don't have any problem then do it on Wednesday. Just don't worry. I am always there for you dear God bless

Patient's Query

Hi mam Didnt really undrstand the meanin of ur last line which states Hcg will be clearly high to confrm ... Im sory but didn’t undrstand this line My hcg level will be high ??? Which means i have conceived or wat??? Pl reply
Answered by Dr. Reetika
No dear. it only becomes high when someone concievs. at least by Tuesday after your test you will be relieved of your anxiety. see the more stress you take the more it will get delayed. but marry now you are 36, it will be difficult for you to carry a happy and healthy pregnancy if you further delay your marriage and plans to start a family don't worry.

Patient's Query

Answered by Dr. Reetika
yes you are right dear. see as it is as you have said at an age of 36, people face difficulty in concieving while they are ovulating and have to undergo infertility treatments. you guys were using condom, on 24 june and unfortunately it got stuck. then you cleaned the area. then you had bleeding. your last period was 16 June, its just been 33 days. don't take stress. worst also if happens, then also don't worry. I am sure you will get out of it. I will make sure that. just have faith and stay healthy and happy. God bless
