Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 26-year-old female. My period is delayed for two weeks. I had a negative result when I took a pregnancy test. Currently, I have headaches, backaches, cramps in my abdomen, and sometimes, I have cramps on my lower abdomen. My heartbeat is too fast often even when I am not doing anything. Why do I have these symptoms? This is the first time for me to have delayed periods.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Periods can be delayed due to several reasons including stress. Please mention if you have any stressful situation in your life. Periods can also be delayed due to occasional hormonal disturbance. If there is a chance for pregnancy, sometimes pregnancy tests can show a positive result later. So repeat the test after seven to ten days. Do relaxation exercises and take more fluids. For backache and headache, you can take Paracetamol.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I took my pregnancy test after ten days of delayed periods. Is there a chance for me to be pregnant?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If the pregnancy test is negative, then you are not pregnant. Rarely, you have an erroneous result. I suggest you repeat the test after a week with a fresh kit.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
