Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had an I-pill 2 months back, after which I got my periods. However, I did not get my periods this month, and I had sexual intercourse last month. I took a urine pregnancy test twice recently, and it was negative both times. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The causes of delayed periods may be due to stress, anemia, or thyroid dysfunction. As your urine pregnancy test is negative, you should get investigated for a complete blood count and thyroid profile. As you had intercourse last month, you have not mentioned whether you had taken I-pill at that time or not.

Please revert in case of a query.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you for your reply doctor,

I did not take I-pill on the day I had intercourse. And how can we rule out ectopic pregnancy, although I have no symptoms? Also, I have had anal fissures the last month, and I have been taking medications for the same. Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Monica Mathur

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The chances of getting pregnant from previous intercourse are nil as you had bleeding after taking I-pill. Also, the urine pregnancy test shows negative even though you have not taken I-pill after the intercourse. Therefore, kindly repeat the urine pregnancy test in the first week of the coming month to exclude ectopic pregnancy.

Thank you.
