Hello doctor,
My girlfriend's period came during the first week of last month. We came in physical contact a few days later, but it was not sex. So there is a chance my sperm would have come in contact with her vagina. For the safe side, she took ipill after two days. After that, she did not have any bleeding, and till now she has not got her periods. What should I do next? Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Of doubt about unprotected sex, she took emergency pills for two days. Emergency contraceptive pills are hormonal pills that interfere with the regular hormonal balance of the menstrual cycle and prevent pregnancy fertilization. After emergency pills, there should be withdrawal bleeding after one to two weeks, and then the body needs time to regulate its cycles naturally. Double doses of hormones need more time to get back to normal.
You can have serum beta hCG (blood pregnancy test) for your satisfaction. But for now better to avoid more hormones. I hope things will be better soon. Her body is taking time to be normal after a double dose of emergency contraceptive hormones. After two weeks, if there is still no response, she can have hormonal menstrual induction through the tablet Primolut N 10 mg twice daily for five days and wait for menses in the next one to two weeks. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent.
Hope this helps.
Thanks and take care.
