What does an hCG level of less than 0.1 mlU/mL indicate?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My period has been delayed (four days). I have been having a headache and heavy-headed feeling for two weeks now. I took an hCG blood test and it was less than 0.1 mlU/mL. Am I infertile?

Hi doctor,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the attachment (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) and it shows your hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) level is 0.1 million international units per ml, which is within the normal range and so there is no chance of pregnancy.

As you have done the test for thyroid as well as diabetes, I would suggest by seeing the clinical report you are overweight rather than obese. I would suggest you get an ultrasound of your lower abdomen done to rule out polycystic ovarian disease which also causes delayed periods apart from obesity and acne over the face. Please revert back with the above report, so an exact diagnosis can be made and the treatment can be started.

As far as your concern for infertility is concerned the level of hCG does not indicate that you will not become pregnant. It only indicates that there is no pregnancy and it is within the normal range. Feel free for any other query.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
