Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a back to back unprotected sex with my partner for three days in this month and my expected period date was six days later. I have taken emergency contraceptive pills on the third day morning after having breakfast. But, still, my periods have not yet started. Can you please help me out with the reason behind that?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As you have taken the emergency contraceptive pill within 72 hours of intercourse then there is no chance of pregnancy. So relax and do not worry. You will definitely get your periods. Do not take any medications without an expert advice.

Kindly follow up if you have doubts.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Sure, I will not take any medicine without consulting. I am worried because my periods are delayed and wondering when the date will come. Are there any chances of getting periods delayed after taking contraceptive pills?

Answered by Dr. Neha Rathod

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, you can expect a delay in the period after taking the pill. So, there is nothing to worry about. Just wait for your periods and if you happen to miss, get a urine pregnancy test done with early morning urine sample to ensure that you are not pregnant.

Kindly follow up with the reports so that I can guide you further.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
