Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had braces a couple of years back, and two extractions were performed on my upper teeth, but I did not maintain the braces for long. However, I am planning to get braces again. Would the extracted tooth make getting braces or aligners complicated?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I hope you are doing well. Retreating a case may be challenging sometimes and sometimes it does not. As you mentioned, two upper teeth were extracted and spaces were closed. Now, based on the current situation, it will be decided how we can proceed further to achieve optimal results. Mostly, in such cases, we do not require any further extraction and just the alignment and closure of spaces, if any have opened up. Final finishing and detailing are done as per the requirements and it should not be of much an issue. With regard to braces or aligners, both have their advantages as well as disadvantages. It depends on what your needs are and which one will help you achieve your goals faster and in an appropriate manner. A thorough clinical and radiographical examination is required to give you the best possible treatment options. If you could share some of your intra-oral photographs of teeth, I would be able to address your query in a more precise manner. Feel free to reach out for further queries or clarifications. Have a great day ahead. Regards.
