Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My first and second molar is missing from the lower side. How can I get braces? Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Several factors must be considered before proceeding with the discussion of your query. Molars are important teeth not only for orthodontics but also for mastication (chewing), the face's width, and the jaw bone's balance. Certain issues could arise when lowers are missing, such as supra eruption of upper teeth. The jaw bone levels reduce, which could cause issues if we go for prosthesis. From an orthodontic perspective, molars are huge bulky tooth that serves as a guide for treatment planning and anchorage. If first molars are not available, we opt for second molars for the same. If both are unavailable, we can opt for TADs (temporary anchorage device) or mini implants (these are mini-screws) drilled into the jaw bone, and its help is taken to carry out certain teeth movements as per requirement. When the purpose of TADs is over, they are removed from the mouth of the patient. Depending on what movements have to be done, position, type, and number of TADs are planned for the patient. For better advice, I would like to see certain photos of your teeth to have a better idea. Feel free to reach out for further queries.
