Is it necessary to have braces on both jaws when one is already aligned straight?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a question regarding my teeth. I have gaps in my teeth. My bottom teeth are all straight and aligned, but my two front teeth are gapped. Does this mean I will have to start braces on my bottom teeth even though they are straight?

Answered by Dr. Naveen Thomas

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

No. If your issue is just the front spacing, you may only get braces on the upper. Be specific about the issue with your orthodontist, but if there are some alignment problems in the lower, they may insist on the lower too. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
