Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I lost an implant tonight. It was loose earlier with some pain and just came out easily. It is the whole implant with the screw that goes into the bone. I have had it for 15 years. I have scheduled an appointment with my dentist tomorrow, but I am concerned about the infection. I have washed my mouth with a strong mouthwash.

Is there anything else that I should or should not do?

Do I need to go to an emergency right now?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

An implant also has its own life and depends on the bone. So if your implant is out, it means its osteodisintegration has occurred.

It would be best to go to the dentist to get one radiograph done to see the bone and infection. I suggest you get one CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) done of that area.

Kindly reply with which tooth it was and the location.

If the bone is good, we can place another implant with more width.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

The location of the implant is on the bottom of the mouth near the back of the mouth. I only worry about infection until I see a dentist because I now have a hole where the implant was. I have no pain or fever and washed my mouth with salt water and mouthwash.

Will I be okay?

Is this okay for now until tomorrow?

Is there anything else I should do tonight to kill the bacteria in my mouth?

Thank you.
