Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a tooth implant post-installed two months ago, and it is failing.
Can you look at the X-rays of the day it was installed and today and give me an opinion of why it has failed?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern.
I have assessed your X-ray (attachments hidden to protect patient identity). There are many reasons for implant failure. Some of them are listed below:
To solve your issue, you need to answer a few questions-

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I am replying to the questions you asked me to answer to solve my problem; these are-
1. A gap of nine months was given between tooth extraction and implant placement.
2. Good systemic health.
3. No, I am not under any medication.
4. No habit of smoking or chewing tobacco.
5. Brush twice a day and floss once a day is my oral hygiene routine
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your reply,
1. Nine months are enough, so this is not the cause.
2. Systemic illness is also not a cause, as you are saying, these are under normal limits.
3. Immediate loading on the implant is most preferably the cause of failure.
Have you got the temporary crown placed on it?
If a temporary crown is also placed, and you have eaten from that crown, it might be the cause of failure. Because your bone is unable to bear that load, it all depends on the quality of the bone. Implant failure occurs when the load placed on the implant is greater than what the bone can bear.
In my opinion, you should now go for the removal of your implant and immediately place the bone graft at the time of removal of the implant, and wait for six months, so that the bone gets formed perfectly.
Then, after six months, go for a good-quality implant placement. Do not go for immediate loading of the prosthesis on the implant. Let the implant osseointegrate with the bone nicely. Then, go for prosthetic loading on the implant (the abutment and crown).
The probable cause can be the short implant quality or immediate loading on the implant.
The treatment plan can be the removal of the implant and the placement of a bone graft immediately. Wait for six months for the judgment of bone quality with a CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) scan.
After six months, go for good-quality implant placement. Wait for a minimum of three months, then go for placement of the prosthetic part (abutment and crown). Do not do immediate loading on the Implant.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Regards.
