Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 18-year-old boy. I had teeth cleaning last month, and I have been brushing my teeth twice, early in the morning and before going to bed, and flossing every night. And this is the first time there is a black plaque in one of my teeth, and I thought it was just food stuck, but when I brush my teeth, it does not go away. Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are taking good care of your oral hygiene. However, you have crowding and maligned teeth in that area, so the food particles can easily get stuck into that area and can not be easily removed. So it depends on how long the contact of deposits is happening in that area. The picture you shared is not much clear (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity); so it can be a calcified piece of deposits or an initial stage of dental caries. I suggest you do scaling if it is calculus and filling if it is decay. I can guide you with proper oral prophylaxis methods in the follow-up after three days.

Differential diagnosis

Gingivitis. Dental caries.

Probable diagnosis

Enamel caries.

Preventive measures

Follow proper brushing techniques. Correction of the malaligned tooth.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
