Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I just received my permanent dentures. The midline is off and it catches my eye every time I look in the mirror. The dentures are pretty loose as well. The dentist did have me do a try-in step with wax, but I thought because they were loose, the dentures appeared crooked. Can permanent dentures be adjusted to correct this?

Answered by Dr. Honey Nandwani

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The fit can be improved by adjusting the flanges of the denture and also by relining the denture. If the teeth are not set with a proper midline, then the dentist can try to manipulate the teeth and adjust it. But, it is a temporary solution. So, the most appropriate solution to get a proper fit is by repeating the denture and get it refabricated. But, if you still want to go with this denture, you could ask your dentist to adjust it for you. If the error was from his side, he should replace it without charging you extra. Hope this helps.
