Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 17-year-old boy, with a weight of 158 pounds and 6 feet tall. I experienced a moment where I spaced out and forgot different words and where I was. I was very stressed after that. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I completely understand that you feel concerned about this unusual experience of being spaced, forgetting words, and where were you at that time. There are some psychological conditions in which a person experiences dissociative symptoms such as depersonalization or derealization. Depersonalization means when you persistently or repeatedly have the feeling that you are observing yourself from outside your body. Derealization means when you have a sense that things around you are not real. A person may experience one or both of the above conditions. Feelings of depersonalization and derealization can be very disturbing and may feel like you are living in a dream. Many people have a passing experience of depersonalization or derealization at some point. But when these feelings keep occurring or never completely go away. It is considered depersonalization or derealization disorder.

Thank you.

The Probable causes

Depersonalization or derealization is more common in people who have traumatic experiences in life.

Probable diagnosis

Insufficient information to diagnose the disorder.

Treatment plan

The best treatment for depersonalization or derealization disorder is talk therapy (psychotherapy), although sometimes medications also are used to treat anxiety related to this condition.

Preventive measures

If you find yourself experiencing a similar kind of experiences, I have elaborated above then you are strongly recommended to seek treatment from a clinical psychologist after your complete psycho-diagnostic assessment. Delay in treatment may worsen your problem.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
