Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My psychiatrist prescribed me Sertraline 200 mg and Lamictal 200 mg in the morning, and Seroquel 50 mg at night. This combination is supposed to help me with my depression and anxiety. Is this a normal combination?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

You are on a high dose of medications. I need some details of your illness like the total duration, signs and symptoms. Sertraline is used for depression and anxiety and Lamictal is used for bipolar depression. Seroquel is an antipsychotic used for sleep disturbance if no other medication has helped you in the past. Sometimes chronic condition needs this type of medication for sleep disturbance. Please provide me with the details so that I can give a proper justification for the above combination, and I can suggest some other changes as well to improve the sign and symptoms of your illness.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you doctor for your reply.

I have had at least a 15-year history of low-level depression and severe anxiety with panic attacks. Escitalopram did not work, after which I was switched to a low-dose Venlafaxine. It helped me with anxiety and depression, however, I had adverse reactions to Venlafaxine, so I was again switched to Zoloft, 200 mg. That was not sufficient, so Lamictal was added and slowly titrated to 200 mg. That helped a lot, but I was still having some anxiety. So I was prescribed a low dose of Seroquel 50 mg to augment the Zoloft.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I suggest you try the tablet clonazepam MD 0.5 mg. If you have an anxiety attack and you must check your CBC (complete blood count), thyroid profile, vitamin B12, and vitamin D3 as they can be one of the causes of long-time depression. You can continue the above combinations, they will help you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
