Q. Can we stop Alzolam after reduction in depression symptoms?

My mother is 67-years-old, 59.5 kgs, and is about 5 feet and 4 inches tall. She is diabetic and hypertensive and suffered from depression about six to seven years back. But now she is better. She is currently taking Gycomet-GP 3/850 twice daily, Voglibose 0.3 mg twice a day, Telmisat AM 5 mg two times a day, Alzolam 0.5 mg once at night, Alzolam 0.25 mg once in the morning, Nexito 10 mg once in the morning, and Fibator 5 mg. Earlier, she would take 20 mg Nexito and Alzolam 0.5 twice a day for two years. We have reduced Nexito to 10 mg and Alzolam in the morning to 0.25 mg.
Can we further reduce the morning dose of Alzolam? How should we do it? Are there any risk factors? We want to reduce the morning dose of Alzolam.

Yes, we can reduce the dose of Nexito as well as Alprazolam. Depending upon her current condition. Kindly reply to these questions; how is her mood throughout the day? Does she appear completely normal, like her usual self? Is there anything in her mood, thought process, and behavior that you find not like her usual self?

Weight loss is primarily due to diabetes. I would suggest you stop Alprazolam first. After a month, try to decrease Nexito to 5 mg. Then after two months, completely stop it. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take the medicines with their consent.
