Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 40-year-old male, and my mind is so depressed after facing some loss in my business. Even though I am working hard to make my business good, my mind still needs to prepare. It feels tired and does not respond to my commands. My mind is staying at the same place of business loss. Please suggest some steps to keep my mind peaceful.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

You may have major depressive disorder due to your business loss. There is non-pharmacological management for your depression, and you should follow the guidelines below to deal with it.

  1. It would be best to exercise 30 to 45 minutes daily.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts. It will help you to relax.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.
  4. You must drink enough water.
  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you are living away from your family. You can take help from your friends and family regarding your financial issue.
  6. Spending time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments would be best.
  7. You should take enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  8. It would be best if you avoid tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  9. Live your life, do not just spend it.
  10. Be bold and confident.
  11. You must have faith in yourself. You will find some good solutions for your loss.
  12. If you still have symptoms that persist after following the advice for four to six weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration.

I hope that you get your answer.

Thank you.
