Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 23-year-old female. I face severe depression after going to work. My work is so hectic, and I started hating it. Every morning I start my work at 8 AM and finish at 7 PM in the evening. So, I would have a lunch break at 1:30 PM. I do not have any relaxation time other than my work every day. I am running like a machine, and I come back to my home at 8 PM. So, I will not eat my dinner and will go to sleep due to tiredness. My life goes like this, and so I have become depressed. I want some management options to overcome my depression. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your situation, and you are right.

Today people are running to get luxury and a comfortable life but sacrificing peace of life. You may have major depressive disorder due to your hectic and boring lifestyle. There is non-pharmacological management for your depression. I suggest you try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you feel like a human.

  • You should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk. It will uplift your mood.
  • Do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts. Just let it be. It will help you to relax.
  • You can do both activities in the morning, and you need a maximum of one hour for them. It will charge you and reduces tiredness.
  • Eat healthy home-cooked food and avoid junk food.
  • You must drink enough water. Dehydration makes you tired and irritable.
  • Spend quality time with friends and family daily.
  • Spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills like language or musical instruments. It will take a maximum of 15 minutes.
  • Sleep enough for seven to eight hours daily.
  • Avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  • Live your life, do not just spend it.
  • Be bold and confident.
  • You must take a break in your life. If possible, go for a short vacation with friends or family.

I hope that you got your answer.
