Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am feeling depressed, guilty, and low after I failed to clear one of the competitive exams. I am not able to concentrate on my studies.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. Your symptoms are typical of people with mild depression, where there is sadness, ruminative thoughts, guilt or anxiety, and loss of concentration. There can also be irritability, decreased sleep, and appetite. I suggest you start taking a low-dose SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) class of medicine for a few months, and once you feel fine, taper off the dose in six to eight weeks. I suggest you take a tablet of Fluoxetine (SSRI antidepressant) 20 milligrams initially. I also suggest you work out in a gym or go for walks daily and practice breathing exercises. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
