Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from fever since last two months. The fever is on and off. I was also admitted in hospital for two days. I have headaches and eye infection. I am also suffering from depression and crying for things without any reason. Which specialist should I meet for my problem? I have acidity problem for around 3 years and daily I get vomit in the morning. All my laboratory reports such as platelet, typhoid and urine tests are normal.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I think you shouldconsult a psychiatrist as an outpatient first, then an ophthalmologist and lastly a physician. The symptoms of depression and crying without reason are emotional liability and that would be treated by a psychiatrist. If you want me to suggest, then I can suggest you with antidepressant tablet Fluoxetine 10 mg at bedtime for a week and then increase to 20 mg. This may cause loose stools and eventually that will settle. For eye pain and headache, you need to meet the ophthalmologist in person. They have to check your eyes with machines. For fever, I would advise you to review with complete blood count, MP QBC (malarial parasite quantitative buffy coat) and ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am also getting shocked in sleep and in my body is vibrated for some time in a day. Why does it happen?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. The tremors in the day or shock-like feeling at night are variations of normal muscular contractures. It happens with everyone. But, they are prominent when we are tired or stressed or after physical exertion. You should be worried about them only if you have some weakness associated with it. Here weakness means inability to use that muscle and not generalized weakness, which we get when we are tired or feverish.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
