Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am in my late teens. For the last three months, I have noticed that I do not feel like talking to anyone. I have started hating people and dislike anyone invading my personal space. Also, I have seen that I get angry at small things.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. You may have major depressive disorder or personality issues from the details given. Although there is non-pharmacological management for it, you should follow few guidelines to deal with it. It will help you. Exercise 30 to 45 minutes daily, at least going for a walk, joining the gym, or swimming; it will boost your confidence in yourself. Meditate for 20 minutes daily, sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force your thoughts; just let them be. It will help you to relax. Eat healthy home-cooked food and avoid junk food. Drink enough water. Spend quality time with friends and family daily or connect through video calls if you live away from your family. It would help if you spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, language, or musical instruments. Sleep for seven to eight hours daily. Avoid tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse. Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident. Do not be afraid of anyone. Stop overthinking. Stand in front of the mirror, make eye contact with your eyes, and talk to yourself. If your symptoms persist after following the advice for four to six weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration.

Please, let me know if you want further assistance.
