Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 33 years old. Before 10 months, I came to know that I am a diabetic. My fasting sugar was 155 mg/dL and PP was 215 mg/dL. My doctor prescribed Geminor M1. My HBA1C is 5.5 % and ABG is 111 now. The issue is that I am more skinny now. I was 136 pounds when I was diagnosed and now I am 127 pounds. Please tell me what to do.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern regarding your weight loss. I would suggest you speak to your doctor who started your medications, regarding your weight loss. The tablet you are taking is having two drugs in it. The Metformin component is known to result in weight loss and hence, it is often used in obese patients. You should convey this concern of weight loss to your doctor, so that he can shift you over to another drug composition. Once Metformin is stopped, you will notice that you have stopped losing weight. Do not forget to maintain a proper healthy diet and continue regular exercise sessions for at least 30 minutes daily. They will help you to live a healthy and fit life, free from further complications and progression of diabetes mellitus. Also, keep monitoring your blood glucose levels regularly and always maintain it within the normal range.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
