Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My fasting blood sugar level is 298 mg/dL, and two hours after the meal is 402 mg/dL. I got a yeast infection and itchy legs. Please suggest some medicine to control my blood sugar level and get rid of yeast infection. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

How long have you had diabetes? What is your HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin)? What medications are you currently taking for it? Diabetes has many complications, so it is not just to bring down the numbers but to monitor and treat complications associated with diabetes. Check your eyes for retinopathy, kidneys with urine albumin creatinine ratio, and your feet. Please let me know the details of your yeast infection as well. Lifestyle modifications are the best diabetes treatment. Follow a low carbohydrate diet and no added sugar. Eat more vegetables, salads, and fiber. Intermittent fasting will also help you to control your diabetes. You can fast for 16 hours, like taking your dinner at 7 pm, and do not eat anything after that. You can take breakfast at 11 am. During fasting, drink water and green tea without sugar. You can extend fasting to 24 hours and then 36 hours as your body adapts. You can do fasting two times a week or as you feel comfortable. It will control your sugar levels. Along with these, I suggest the following. Drink more water. Sleep well. Exercise at least walk 30 to 40 minutes daily. Check your sugar frequently. Your fasting target should be 90 to 130 mg/dL, and two hours after eating should be 150 to 160 mg/dL. HbA1c should be less than 7. These targets can vary in individual patients depending upon their diabetes duration and other relevant issues. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response. I have not taken any medication till now. I checked my blood sugar due to a yeast infection in my penis and an itchy leg. My father has diabetes. My eye vision is normal. A white layer is formed under the foreskin, and the skin cracks if pulled back. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

For yeast infections, it is better to see a dermatologist. For diabetes, follow the above guidelines. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

For increased blood sugar levels, I suggest Empagliflozin (5 mg) and Metformin Hydrochloride (500 mg) tablets, one in the morning and one in the evening. Consult your specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,
