Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 72-year-old mother is diabetic. Suddenly her right leg and right hand are not functioning. In MRI scan of the head, it is told that bursting of vein or tube is reported. Could leg and hand function be restored?

Answered by Dr. Divakara. P

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The recovery of the weakness of limbs depends on the extent of brain damage. For that, I need to go through the scan report completely. Kindly upload the scan report and I shall give you a precise idea of what you can expect in recovery.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the reports. Please have a look.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I went through the scan and reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). It says there has been bleeding inside the brain and in addition because of this bleeding there is increased pressure in the brain which is causing the brain to shift to the other side causing compression of the normal side of the brain. This is a bad sign. Your mother needs surgery to relieve the pressure inside the brain, or else her condition may deteriorate. Till surgery is done certain medication like Mannitol can be used to reduce the intracerebral pressure. If not consulted take a neurosurgeon consultation as she requires surgery.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
