Diclofenac Teratogenic Effect

Diclofenac is a common non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Diclofenac has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties that treat various conditions in reproductive-age women. It occurs in the amniotic fluid at relevant concentrations. In addition, Diclofenac has some teratogenic effects. It reduces the fetal prostaglandin levels and, therefore, is avoided in the third trimester. The known adverse effects of NSAIDs in late pregnancy are premature constriction of the fetal ductus arteriosus and nephrotoxicity.
