Hi doctor,

I have gastric problem. Can you suggest me diet plan to lose weight with consideration of my gastric problem. Please specify any precautions to be taken and mention the source of food. I am attaching my medical reports which I have done before six months. Thank you.

  • You need to follow a high protein, low calorie and low fat balanced diet.
  • Do not skip your breakfast. To control gastric problem you need to take food at proper interval. Do not let your stomach empty for a longer time.
  • The following diet is designed for you with standard meal timings. Follow it properly and share the result with me.
  • I shall start with the wake up time as 7 AM.
  1. 7.15 AM: Soaked almonds 3-4 (overnight) plus one glass of ajwain water (soak one teaspoon of ajwain overnight).
  2. 7.30 AM: Sprouts (soaked and boiled green moong + choley) - 1/2 cup followed by physical activity of about 30 minutes brisk walk and fitness exercise.
  3. 8.00 AM: Green tea - 1 cup + biscuits - 2.
  4. 9 AM: Cornflakes or oats- 1/2 bowl + milk - 1 cup (200 ml) (toned/skimmed) or brown bread sandwich - 2 slice + milk - 1 cup or roti - 2 + mixed vegetable sabzi - 1 bowl.
  5. 11.30 AM: Buttermilk - 1 cup (200 ml).
  6. 1.00 PM: Roti - 3 or rice - 1 cup with mixed vegetable curry - 1 bowl or boiled vegetables - 1 bowl + dal - 1 bowl or chicken or fish - 150 to 200 g + curd - 1 cup.
  7. 4.00 PM: Fruit salad (apple, pomegranate, guava, orange, grapes, watermelon, etc.,) or any whole fruit - 200 g (avoid banana, mango). 
  8. 6.00 PM: Roasted rice flakes - 1/2 cup + 1 cup green tea.
  9. 9.00 PM: Roti - 3 or rice - 1 cup + mixed vegetable curry+ paneer sabzi - 1 bowl or chicken/fish - 100 to 150 g + boiled vegetables - 1 bowl + dal - 1 bowl.
  10. 10.30 PM: Bedtime.
  • Your take at least 2 liters of water a day and add oil of about 20-25 ml/day and sugar 2 teaspoon a day.
  • Avoid potato, oily food, junk food, table salt, spicy food, raw vegetables (like cucumber, onion and tomato), strong tea, coffee, soft drinks, sweets, canned foods, papad, pickle, meal gaping, etc.
