Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had numbness on the right side of my neck and right arm for three weeks. During sleep, I get a spider-like feeling all over my head and neck that I cannot control. Also, my right arm was numb when I woke up this morning. I have taken the tablet Paracetamol. However, the pain is not subsiding.

Kindly help.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com. I understand your concern.

Your symptoms suggest a bulging disc in the cervical vertebral column causing radicular nerve pain in the arm and shoulder. I suggest you consult a neurologist for a physical examination and to perform a cervical spine X-ray study. A cervical spine MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) would be the best tool to examine your spinal cord and nerves. I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis four years ago. My right arm is sore and swollen. I have shared an image for your reference. Is it something serious?

Kindly advise.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the pictures you have shared (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). There is no neurological condition that explains the swelling in this region. However, the numbness in the right arm can be due to a new spinal lesion as you have a history of MS (multiple sclerosis). For this reason, a new cervical spine MRI may be needed. In addition, I suggest you use capsule Duloxetine and tablet Gabapentin for symptomatic relief. Consult a specialist doctor, talk to him or her, and then start the treatment with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
