Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from a cough. It is not regular, but during the whole day, I might cough twice or thrice. It is not too harsh, but my cough is dry, and there is no mucus. No fever, chest pain, fatigue, or shortness of breath. I had a very bad cough a few days ago. And today, when I consumed rice and curd, it kind of triggered my cough or when I am in a dusty place or smoking. I just smoked twice this month and during the time of my cough. I have quit smoking. I am 25 years old and taking Codistar and Allegro 120. It is working well. Just because I ate curd and rice, it started.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems you have a chronic dry cough which is triggered by allergens and environmental irritants like smoke. This seems to be a dry cough associated with post-nasal drip. Do you have any sinus issues or allergic rhinitis, or a family history of asthma?

What you can do is inhale steam with Menthol three times a day. Also, drink a mixture of lime and honey mixed with warm water every day. Continue this for a week and see if there is any improvement. Also, you can try medications, namely, tablet Cetirizine 10 mg once daily for five to seven days. Do not take Allegro if you take Cetirizine. In fact, Allegro itself causes a dry cough.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
