Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a sexual issue. I do not get wet. The vagina is moist initially, but as it is exposed to air and when foreplay increases, it gets drier. What should I do?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

  • It appears to be due to stress or anxiety, so relax and do exercise.
  • However, to exclude other causes, you need to do some blood tests like hemoglobin, total count, differential count, postprandial sugar, prolactin and thyroid stimulating hormone.
  • If you are taking any medicine or nutritional supplement on a regular basis, then it may be due to its side effect.
  • But, I think your mind diverts during foreplay. Keep your mind concentrated on the act; you can use fantasy to keep away other thoughts.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have not felt wet in the past one year. There is a good amount of foreplay. I have never reached orgasm because of the same. My partner does not seem to have any sexual dysfunction. Earlier, I used to not get wet at all. Now, at least there is some lubrication which dries up when exposed to air. The arousal stays for a very short while and dies down too quickly. Currently, I am taking Ashwagandha, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Iron occasionally. I started taking these medications only after I faced this problem. I was not relying on medication otherwise. About eight to nine months back, I was using Syscan recommended by a gynecologist for the same issue. There is some wetness now. Yet, no visible difference has been noticed. All tests recommended by you were performed. Estrogen and progesterone have not been tested. All tests were conducted two days after periods got over and this could be a reason why prolactin was high.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Your hemoglobin percentage is low. I suggest you take one capsule of Autrin (combination of Ferrous fumarate, Folic acid, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C) daily and one tablet of Folvite (Folic acid) daily for three months. Please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take medicines with consent.
  • Prolactin is high not because it was done at the end of the period. High prolactin is the cause for your problem. I suggest you take Cabergoline 0.5 mg twice a week. Please consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and take the medicine with consent.
  • You do not need to go to a sexologist for that. Just take the prolactin report to a gynecologist and you will be prescribed with the same medicine.
  • Your other reports are within normal limits with no significant abnormality.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I just wanted to check a few things. When I was reading about the medication that you suggested for hyperprolactinemia, I came across that the cause could be a tumor over pituitary gland. So, do I need to get the tumor tested? I will consult a local gynecologist, but would you recommend me to still consume the iron and the vitamin supplements that I am currently having? Or should I stop that completely? Long time back, a doctor had prescribed me Dexorange and Zincovit. Should I take that instead of Folvite and Autrin? Do I need to get any hormonal tests done on a safer side to check if there is any significant improvement after taking the medicines? I noticed spotting in the last three days. This happens randomly after periods and is not consistent. Some months, there is no sign, and for some a week later spotting starts. Is this something I should be concerned about?  I have never reached the orgasm. Will the treatment help me balance my estrogen level and restore my sex drive?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Yes, high prolactin or hyperprolactinemia could be due to a tumor over the pituitary gland. However, in cases of tumor, the levels of prolactin will be very high. You can test for tumor if you want.
  • You should continue with the Iron and vitamin supplements.
  • You can take the previously prescribed Dexorange and Zincovit instead of Flovite and Autrin.
  • Regarding the repeating of hormone tests, you can go ahead and get it tested, especially the prolactin levels.
  • The spotting after the periods may be due to any pills or due to hormone disturbance. It is not the cause to be worried. You can check with your gynecologist.
  • The treatment will help you balance your estrogen level and restore your sex drive.
