Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have an ear infection, and I am a 27-year-old male. I have been using Polysporin ear drops. Also, I am allergic to Penicillin.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You seem to be having acute suppurative otitis media. But for an exact diagnosis and treatment, you need to give a more detailed and specific history like, Is there ear pain associated with it? How is the hearing? Any similar history in the past? Did you suffer from a cold before this? Any history of inserting earbuds or anything else in the ear, whether it happens after the entry of water in the ear while bathing?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply, My hearing is much better now that the ears are unclogged. I use headsets and in-ear a lot since I use computers a lot. I believe it started after working out with headsets on. There is currently no pain compared to the pain I felt when the ears were fully clogged (I could still hear). I do wonder if I do not feel pain in my left ear because of the anesthetic on the Polysporin. I would like to know if there is anything else besides keeping using these drops that I should be doing.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, the pain relief could be due to the effect of the ear drops. But you have not uploaded any pictures, and I cannot see any pictures. 1. Do not use ear drops for more than five days. 2. Keep your ears dry, do not allow even a single drop of water inside. 3. Never put Q tips or anything else inside the ear. 4. Till the ears are fully received, avoid using earphones or headphones as much as possible.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I saw the pictures now (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). It is otomycosis, which is a fungal infection in the ear. The ear drops will be enough to treat it. And if you feel itching in your ear, you can take the tablet Fexofenadine 120 mg once daily for five days. The most important thing is to keep the ears absolutely dry because fungal infection thrives on wet surfaces.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
