Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Recently, my sister was yelling and she yelled into my ears while I was passing. After that, I started to have a feeling of slight vacuum and burning of the outer ear. Is this permanent hearing loss? Please help. I have this in my left ear and the hearing was good. I took an online hearing test and it says that there is no hearing loss. But I am not sure about the burning sensation or feeling of air flowing through the ears.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

A slight burning started to happen on the outer ear after the incident of my sister yelling on the ears. It got started after seven hours and I still feel some slight burning on the outer ear. I feel the openness of ear in my left ear. I have a persistent feeling of vacuum and burning in the outer ear. I have a burning sensation in my tragus. I do not hear any abnormal sounds in the ears. I have not consulted an ENT specialist. I do not have any ear discharge. I do not have any aggravation of symptoms at night. I am fine regarding my mood. Before six months, I got a slight swelling on the eustachian tubes of the right ear and it was treated with Prednisone. I do not have any other issues. I did an online hearing test at the volume level of two and there is no hearing loss.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms are not pointing towards a neurological problem. It can be non-specific or it can be related to ears. It does not seem to be caused due to yelling of your sister in your ears. The sensation of vacuum can occur due to a slight change in pressure between the inner ear and middle ear. You can have it due to mild inflammation inside the ear or eustachian tube. You can have the sensation due to impacted wax in the ear canal. It is good to know that there is no hearing impairment. I suggest you consult an ENT specialist for clinical examination of your ears and rule out other ear-related causes of your symptoms.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
